Action Plan for Year 3
September 1, 2001 - August 31, 2002


Goal 1 - Continue to enhance professional development programming for center-based staff

Activities

  1. Provide distance learning course work through RISE and University of Cincinnati
  2. Provide computer training to staff at all level (Galileo and basic computer skills)

    Lead Person: Ashley Rhodes, Peg Tazewell, Mark Kohlman
    Timeline: Ongoing - beginning in August and ending in May
    Evaluation: Feedback from cohort members participating and implementation of knowledge learned

Goal 2 - Conduct monthly meetings with cohort members

Activities

  1. Address Action Plan goals
  2. Involve COL members to facilitate trainings specific to their roles

    Lead Person: Ashley Rhodes, Peg Tazewell, COL Members
    Timeline: Monthly - beginning in October and ending in May
    Evaluation: Feedback and evaluation completion by participating cohort members

Goal 3 - Implement use of digital camera in all Head Start classrooms and partnerships to enhance documentation of child outcomes

Activities

  1. Purchase one digital camera per site (or two per classroom) for use
  2. Provide training for use of digital camera and documentation

    Lead Person: Ashley Rhodes, one designated member per site to monitor use of camera
    Timeline: Purchase cameras in June/July 2001; train staff in August 2001
    Evaluation: Monitoring of Individual Child Portfolios, Documentation Boards and feedback from cohort members

Goal 4 - Expand current agency Professional Development Plan via Professional Development Committee. Develop training for 2001-2002 new employee orientation

Activities

  1. Meet with COL and cohort members to develop committee
  2. Use feedback from Q-Net PDS and PES

    Lead Person: Ashley Rhodes, COL members, one designated cohort member per site
    Timeline: Introduction of current plan and committee members in August 2001; Complete final draft by April 2002 with revisions
    Evaluation: Training for entire agency on completed plan; completed evaluations of training and plan

Goal 5 - Introduce current 2-year Associate Degree cohort members to 4-year college campus

Activities

  1. Work with four-year faculty partner at Ashland University to set up tours through admissions office for KECC cohort members
  2. Designate groups of cohort members to tour the campus

    Lead Person: Ashley Rhodes, Cindy Moseman
    Timeline: Designate 2-3 tours per program year to occur in October, January, and April
    Evaluation: Hold cohort meeting in May for participants of tours - provide feedback and benefits of tour at 4-year college

Goal 6 - Develop Individual Technology Plans with cohort members

Activities

  1. Design ITP for cohort members to complete
  2. Meet with cohort members individually to complete and support the process of meeting goals

    Lead Person: Ashley Rhodes, Peg Tazewell, Mark Kohlman, Rochelle Paul, Cindy Moseman
    Timeline: Completion of ITP with individual cohort members by October 30, 2001 and upon hire. Meeting held at orientation of new hires for 2001-2002 year
    Evaluation: Feedback from training provided according to cohort member needs

Goal 7 - Begin planning stages of agency community training center

Activities

  1. Designate a site (Head Start) as a possible location for CTC
  2. Develop steps for set-up of CTC
  3. Visit a newly established CTC (another COL)

    Lead Person: Ashley Rhodes, Peg Tazewell, Mark Kohlman, COL members
    Timeline: Begin planning stages/steps in January, 2002
    Evaluation: Set-up of designated site; Needs assessment completed for set-up of CTC
